For Kids & Teens - UPDATED for 2010!

UPDATE: These classes will be offered again in January 2010! Sign-ups start December 1st!

Jeanne Bisceglia is returning with her popular Art Group for 8-12 year olds. This class will be held on Thursdays this year, from 3:30 - 5:30 pm starting January 7 & March 4. Tuition is $90 for 6 weeks, and all materials are included.

Michelle Beliveau will be bringing back the Art Group for 6 & 7 year olds to Saturday mornings. This class will be held from 10 - 11:15 am starting January 9, and again on March 6. Tuition is $60 for 6 weeks and includes all materials.

Jeanne Bisceglia is repeating Drawing for 12 -16 year olds course, that will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4 -6 pm, for 6 weeks starting January 6 and March 3. This Drawing class will include using different grade pencils as well as colored pencils, and also introduce pen & ink as a drawing medium, brushes for ink washes. Purchase of materials will be discussed at the first class. Tuition is $90.

Also, our teen students are invited/encouraged to consider taking one of the adult courses offered in the evenings and on Saturday mornings. This would include Jeanne Lachance's Beginning & Intermediate Drawing, Kim Roth's Drawing, Colored Pencil, and Acrylic Classes, Suzanne Binnie's Beginning Watercolor, Laurel Jamieson's Watercolor on the Edge, Mary Buergin's Pastel Painting, and Michelle Beliveau's Mixed Media/Collage class. Most of these are 12 week classes that start the week after New Year's Day.

Looking Ahead to Fall

Hello Everyone!

It has been a fun summer here at E. W. Poore with lots of classes and workshops going on. Now we are looking ahead to fall.

Jeanne Lachance will be back with 3 classes this fall: Tuesday morning's Drawing, Colored Pencil, & Watercolor, Thursday morning's Oil Painting, and Saturday morning's Beginning & Intermediate Drawing.

Kim Roth is also back with a full complement of courses. His Acrylic Painting class will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings, and Drawing, Watercolor, & Acrylics will be offered on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Kim will also offer Drawing for Painters, Acrylic Demonstration, and Art History at various times.

Laurel Jamieson brings a new class to the Art Studio. The Art of Watercolor Journaling will be offered on Thursday evenings.

Mary Buergin returns with two offerings of her Pastel Painting course on Tuesday evening or Thursday morning.

Frank Moulin will be leading the Intermediate Watercolor class which meets on Saturday mornings. All are welcome.

Suzanne Binnie's Watercolor for Beginners and Beyond class will be offered on Thursday evenings, and is a wonderful class for anyone just starting.

Michelle Beliveau is back again after some time off and will bring her Mixed Media Collage course to Tuesday evenings.

Students may submit one piece per class. An example: Margaret takes oils with Jeanne & watercolors with Frank. She may put 2 pieces in the show - 1 oil & 1 watercolor. Alyssa Goes to Washington

Congratulations go out to Alyssa Pittera, a student at Coe-Brown Academy in Northwood, NH. Alyssa's artwork, Blooming Rocker, was selected to represent New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District in the Congressional Art Awards program, and will hang in the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.

At E. W. Poore, we are very excited to be framing Alyssa's piece before it travels to Washington. This is our 10th year framing artwork for this fantastic program celebrating the talented young artists of NH.

Mr. Allen Unrein is Alyssa's instructor at Coe-Brown.

Jury Show '09

On Thursday March 26th, we will be celebrating the artists and artwork of the Jury Show '09 with a reception in their honor, from 5 - 7 pm, and an awards ceremony at 6:30pm. This will all take place in our gallery at 531 Front Street, on Manchester's West Side.

Watercolor Collage Workshop

Local artist, Bill Earnshaw, will be offering a 3-day Watercolor Collage workshop at the Art Studio at E. W. Poore this spring. Running for 3 consecutive Saturdays starting April 18th, Bill will introduce you to his techniques of watercolor collage. Tuition for the 3 days is $100. with a 1 day option available for $40. The workshop meets from 9:30am - 12:30pm, and a supply list is as follows:

Watercolor paints and brushes
Elmer's glue and stiff brush for collaging
Watercolor paper 300 lb recommended Sizes 7 1/2by7 1/2 inches and 11by15 inches or student's choice
Assorted papers for collageing. These can be purchased or found from magazine advertisement's.

Art Classes for Kids!

Manchester, NH - Jeanne Bisceglia will again be offering Drawing & Painting for 8 - 12 year old artists. The 6 week class will start on Thursday March 12th, 3:30 - 5:30pm. The cost of the class is $90. and includes all materials.

The Art Group for 6 & 7 year olds, led by instructor Pat Steiner, will return on Wednesday, March 11th from 3:30 - 4:45pm. This 6 week class costs $60, and includes all materials.

Both of these classes are small group instruction will emphasis on participation & experimentation in art materials. Both Jeanne & Pat are experienced with these ages groups and the activities are well planned.

Manchester, NH - I am a believer in goals. Setting them, sometimes accomplishing them, and always learning as I go along.

One of my goals for 2008 was to establish an actual website for E. W. Poore. In April I made major steps toward that goal by learning how to blog with this site at Blogger.com. Over the summer and fall I managed to keep this going, and in November the www.ewpoore.com site was born.

Yesterday, I learned how to put a link to a PDF file on the website, and now you can pull up the Art Studio flyer from www.ewpoore.com!

I hope you will visit and visit often. Add it to your favorites. I'll keep learning and adding to it!

Manchester, NH - Our classes for kids department is expanding with the addition of classes for two new age groups.

On Wednesday afternoons, the sounds of children creating art will be heard from the Studio. Pat Steiner will be leading a group of 4 & 5 year olds with their parents during the 2 pm - 3pm time period. And at 3:30pm, 6 & 7 year olds will take over as they begin creating lots of different art projects. These 6 week classes start on January 7th, 2009. Tuition is $60. and includes all materials.

On Thursdays at 3:30, Drawing & Painting for 8 - 12 year olds with Jeanne Bisceglia will be a fun introduction to a wide variety of art forms. Drawing skills are developed in all projects. Tuition is $90. and includes all materials.

Manchester, NH - This fall, instructor Kim Roth added a Painting Demonstration Class to his list of offerings. Over 6 weeks, students watched and listened as Kim painted and explained how & why he was doing what he was doing.

In January, this class will again be on the schedule - Wednesdays at 10am. Consider adding this class to supplement your painting course.

Betsy Gammons, a graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design, has been employed as an art educator in Concord, NH since 1981. During that time, she was very fortunate to have been granted a two-year leave of absence to teach at the Frankfort International School in Germany, and then again at the American International School of Budapest in Hungary. Her travel experiences, whether home or abroad, provide her with much material for her work, which include pastel drawing, oil painting, and photography. She is continually inspired by color and design in the landscape, especially water, and the discoveries along and upon the water's edge. The images she shares with us are the result of a longing to wander off-the-beaten path in search of surprises that echo "stay this moment!"
Betsy's work will be on display in the Art Gallery through November 15th. We hope you will stop by to see more of her amazing images from off-the-beaten path!

MAA Artist of the Year: Judy Gelinas

Every year the Manchester Artists' Association honors a member as Artist of the Year. This year's recipient of this award is pastelist Judy Gelinas, of Manchester.
At E. W. Poore, we have been honored over the years to display artwork by the MAA's Artist of the Year, and this year is no exception. We were thrilled when Judy was selected as we get to peek over her shoulder on Thursday evenings when she is studying in our Art Studio with instructor, Mary Buergin.

Red Sox Nation comes to visit

We were very excited to have a visit from New Hampshire Governor of Red Sox Nation, Janice Page. Janice, who works at the VA Hospital, brought in a portrait of her grand-pup, Zoe, to be framed as a wedding gift for her daughter and new son-in-law.

"Learn to Paint Like the Old Masters" workshop

August 5th - 8th, Sue Zylak will be offering an oil painting workshop, "How to Paint like the Old Masters". Meeting daily from 10am to 3:30pm,
Sue will touch on many subjects including, but not limited to:

how to stretch a canvas & set up your palette,

setting up & photographing a still life, and more.

In addition, a daily demonstration will take place.

This workshop is not just for the beginning oil painter, many valuable hints will be discussed.

Jeanne Bisceglia will be offering Mixed Media for Children, ages 7 - 10 years, this summer at the E. W. Poore Art Studio, 531 Front Street in Manchester.
